City of Westlake Council Meeting: Open to the public, will be held Monday, Sept. 20 at 5:30 p.m.

Town of Vinton Council Meeting: Open to the public, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.

Vendor opportunities: DeQuincy Community ACTS Foundation, a new ministry, is inviting vendors to sell their wares with no cost for space on Saturday, Sept. 25. Barbecue chicken dinners will be on sale. Call 515-3909 to order or reserve space. Leroy Thomas performs from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Uncle Ronnie Fontenot will provide music throughout the event.

Family Fun Night: Almosta Ranch, a fresh farm goods and petting zoo, will hold Family Fun Night Friday, Oct. 8, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Entrance is $10 per car. Only 40 cars will be admitted. Enjoy live music around the campfire, petting zoo, zipline and swings. Food is available for purchase.

Back in the Groove: The West Cal Cam Fair Board will present Back in the Groove 2021. The fair will be held at the West Cal Arena Friday-Sunday, Oct. 8-10. Don’t miss Bullfight in the Heel at 7 p.m., Oct. 9, also presented by the West Cal Fair Board in conjunction with the fair’s festivities and entertainment at the arena. Admission for the freestyle bullfighting event is $15. A special concert will follow featuring Marty Haggard, son of legendary Merle Haggard.

City Golf Championship: The 39th Annual Sulphur City Golf Championship will be held Saturday, Oct. 9 at Frasch Park. Entry fee is $100. Carts included. Each player will receive one dozen Bridgestone Tour B golf balls valued at $50. Also included are burgers, chips and soft drinks from the Frasch Golf Course Grill along with a Frasch logo metal tumbler and other items. Club members get 10 percent discount on fee.

West Cal Chamber Banquet: Items are being collected for the 71st Annual West Cal Chamber Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 11. Wine and monetary donations are also being accepted. Fun and games: Enjoy free games and organized activities for grade school students from Sulphur Parks and Recreation will be held at Carlyss Park on Tuesday, Sept. 21 and Center Circle Park Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

SPAR seeking referees: Sulphur Parks and Recreation are now hiring officials and referees for fall sports (volleyball, soccer, football). Pay is competitive and additional compensation is offered to certified officials. Games are Monday-Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and occasionally on Saturday mornings.
