The “abnormally hot weather” Southwest Louisiana has experienced this week is expected to continue throughout the weekend.

Montra Lockwood with the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office said a few showers and storms the next few days may bring some short-term relief.

Temperatures today are expected to reach as high as 97 degrees with a 20-30 percent chain for rain. Saturday’s high is forecast for 96 degrees with a 10-15 percent chance of rain. Temperatures Sunday and Monday could top 100 degrees.

Lockwood said an area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean Sea continues to be monitored for development. No impacts are expected of southeast Texas or Southwest Louisiana.
