John Stine opens, Westlake to buy automated water, gas meter reading system

John Stine Road is open to traffic. Westlake City Council approved a resolution accepting the preliminary design for Sawgrass subdivision and resolutions awarding and accepting proposals for an automated water and gas meter reading system at the Monday monthly meeting.

City engineer Vernon Meyer offered up a “Hallelujah,” before announcing that John Stine Road paving and drainage is complete.

“Sidewalks and stripping can be done with little inconvenience to traffic,” he said.

A new subdivision is being developed for the east and west side of Dudley Dixon Drive Sawgrass will offer at least 20 more sites in West Trace.

The city has received bids for automated meter reading of the water and natural gas meters. The cost for the water meter automation is $250,000. The natural gas automated system low bid was $327,045.
