Damaged fiber cables have caused AT&T-provided service outages around Southwest Louisiana — including at the American Press‘ downtown offices.

A statement from AT&T reads “our technicians are working as quickly and safely as possible to make repairs to two fiber cables damaged by severe weather. These fiber cuts are affecting internet and wireless services for some customers in the Lake Charles area.”

The outage is affecting the City of Sulphur offices. A Facebook post on the City’s page said “Please be patient as AT&T is working to resolve the issue and in the event of an emergency call 9-1-1.”

The city of Lake Charles said it is also experiencing phone issues due to the AT&T service interruption. All city facilities, including fire and police, are experiencing intermittent service outages on city landlines and cell phones.
