Heavy downpours and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday, with 1-3 inches of rainfall possible.

The National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office said higher amounts of rainfall are possible locally, which could result in flooding of urban and low-lying areas and increase river levels.

In addition, there is a marginal risk for severe weather.

The excessive rainfall threat will begin Thursday morning, the NWS said, and is expected to persist through at least Thursday night, with heavy rainfall expected to continue into Friday as the threat shifts east across Louisiana.

Mostly sunny conditions are expected today with temperatures forecast to be in the upper 60s to low 70s. There is a chance for patchy fog in the morning with increasing cloud coverage later in the day.
